Interstellar

Interstellar explores the movement and energy of the space between the stars. As a part of the Interconnected series, it reflects the invisible forces of nature and magnetism that connect all things. Two lines meet in a dynamic interplay, creating a sense of balance, equality and continuous motion.

Due to the satin glass the artwork is transprarant and is liberated of the canvas (much like what we know from the tradition of painting). By the transparancy of the standard it is lifted and almost floating in space. You can walk around the artwork and meet the interplay with light and perspective.

Le Ciel Bleu; between the Clouds and the Azure.

Le Ciel Bleu was painted in anticipation of a journey to the South of France. The artwork began with the colours of the sky and the Azure waters, meeting the movement of both of them.

As the journey unfolded, more colours found their way into the work: the warm tones of the grain fields, the soft purples of lavender, the deep Azure of the water, and the delicate tones of sun-warmed sand. I was longing to encounter these soft, sunlit colours again.

The artwork can be experienced with two different background colours, or without a background, allowing the work to remain as pure and open as possible. Choosing a background introduces another layer to the experience, creating an interplay of colour, depth, and light. The artwork therefore changes subtly depending on how it is placed, inviting the viewer to discover a different atmosphere in each version, to become involved in the ever changing interplay.

Equality

Equality, on a higher level. This artwork explores a form of equality between people on Earth, one we scarcely know. It is quite rare for people to truly act from a place of equality. What would the world look like if we did? It is a powerful, deeply philosophical work. This painting is part of the ‘Interconnected’ series, which examines the invisible natural forces that link everything on Earth. A view of the world from a broader perspective…

This artwork is available with two different background layer colours (acrylate). A deeper moss green, which gives the painting a certain warmth, while the emerald green creates a softer atmosphere and a completely different interplay between reflection and light. You can use the backgrounds or choose not to, depending on the space they will join.

Mirroring Image

Mirroring Image explores the role of viewpoint when an object is floating. If it is detached from gravity, how important is our perspective then? When an artwork contains multiple perspectives at once, its line begins to shift. Rather than following a single viewpoint, it responds to several orientations simultaneously. What if there would be a mirror, where would it be? Do we see different forms meeting each other, each belonging to another perspective? Or does the image still resolve into one continuous line unfolding through multiple points of view?

Motion In The Universe II

Motion In The Universe II explores the collaboration between two independent lines meeting one another from multiple perspectives. They are not drawn toghether by the force of magnetism, but exist freely; Liberated shapes interacting through movement alone.

The forms suggest a strong sense of motion. Each line carries equal importance and together they create a powerful implied shape that emerges through their relationship of equality, rather than dominance.

Synergie; floating like water

Synergy; Floating Like Water explores the collaboration between two interwoven lines. They enter into a tension that resembles a dance of water; fluid, floating and as transparant as possible. As you follow their movement, it becomes clear that they are spatial and more than just lines. They exist in motion.

Motion In The Universe

Motion In The Universe is based on years of observing the sky in the evening light, investigating the movement that might exist beyond the Earth. Each line suggests a powerful sense of movement, like that of a magnetic field. The blues of the sky merge with the yellow colours of the stars, interacting and playing with one another.

Out of the box

Out Of The Box was created out of the urge to paint not just round on round. From the moment I discovered the round glass I immediately felt the need to paint squares on a round. I started of not centred but a bit more to the side. Thats’s how this painting was started. Out of the box in so many ways. You can discover in this artwork multiple shifts of perspective.

Under An Angle

Under An Angle

Under An Angle; Most of my artworks are painted under an angle. Without that, it would be impossible to create those flowing, circular shapes, our bodies simply don’t allow it. They often border an impossibility and play on the edge of human reason.  I love changing perspective; this painting defies gravity in every possible way. It’s a place to immerse yourself in, a place where there is always something new to discover.

This artwork began as round as round can be, like a rising full moon. Its circular form is expansive and wide. It seems almost perfectly round, but it isn’t. It is shaped at an angle, which changes its perspective and sets its form in motion, suggesting an ongoing process. The meeting point is soft and subtle like a gentle embrace.

The Movement Of The Wind

Movement Of The Wind; What if the wind takes shape? If it regains it’s speed from far away. What would it’s movement be like then? What if the wind is changing it’s direction half way and starts to play. The paintings colours are really soft, as soft as a breeze of air. It can be the wind you feel just sitting outside or on a bigger scale, the higher winds up in the air. Due to the transparancy of the glass the colours meet a  transparency as well.
