Out of the box

This painting was created out of the urge to paint not just round on round. From the moment I discovered the round glass I immediately felt the need to paint squares on a round. I started of not centred but a bit more to the side. Thats’s how this painting was started. Out of the box in so many ways. You can discover in this artwork multiple shifts of perspective.

Under an angle

Most of my artworks are painted under an angle. Without that, it would be impossible to create those flowing, circular shapes, our bodies simply don’t allow it. They often border an impossibility and play on the edge of human reason.  I love changing perspective; this painting defies gravity in every possible way. It’s a place to immerse yourself in, a place where there is always somthing new to discover.

This artwork began as round as round can be, like a rising full moon. Its circular form is expansive and wide. It seems almost perfectly round, but it isn’t. It is shaped at an angle, which changes its perspective and sets its form in motion, suggesting an ongoing process. The meeting point is soft and subtle like a gentle embrace.

The movement of the wind

What if the wind takes shape? If it regains it’s speed from far away. What would it’s movement be like then? What if the wind is changing it’s direction half way and starts to play. The paintings colours are really soft, as soft as a breeze of air. It can be the wind you feel just sitting outside or on a bigger scale, the higher winds up in the air. Due to the transparancy of the glass the colours meet a  transparency as well.

May 2025 Material: Neopastel on satin glass. Size: 64x64x20cm (hxwxd) incl. standard

Wafer-thin

Wafer-thin is based on a soft breeze of air, existing of only tiny droplets of water. It is super tin, floating up in the air. Its position is almost lifted of the glass as well. It is a highly danceable shape.

Februari 2025 Material: Neopastel on satin glass. Size: 62,5×63,5x15cm (h,w,d) incl. Standard.

The egg

Starting off as a shape to nestle (being protected and secure), the painting developed becoming an egg. The both subjects strongly related. They are two separate shapes merged and becoming one. Or are they still separated? Melted just for a while. Part of the series colour fragmentation.

Februari 2025 Material: Neopastel on satin glass. Size: 66,5×61,5×13,5 cm (h,w,d)

Head up high

Head up high: What if we would turn our head slightly backwards, a little bit upwards? Would we look at the world differently? Could we investigate how small we are, just a visitor at this planet for a while. Instead of just looking down. The glass is leaning slightly backwards as well.

January 2025 Material: Neo pastel on satin glass. Size: 66,5×61,5×13 cm (h,w,d)

Almost liberated from gravity

Belonging to the serie mesmerizing the colour effect is really optical. What happens to a painting when you can walk around it? Discover it from all sides? It is almost liberated from gravity? How close can we get to being liberated, that is what this painting is about. The glass is almost liberated from the standard as well.
